I was once told, that you can’t out work a poor diet… meaning no matter how hard you workout, no matter how much you sweat, how painful the workout… you can’t get the results you want if you do not incorporate a healthy diet.
“We are indeed much more than what we eat, but what we eat can nevertheless help us to be much more than what we are.” ~ Alice May Brock
Ut-oh! I used the “D” word. I am not taking about the definition of the word that people make out to be someone limiting the consumption of food… a healthy diet is a lifestyle. If you change your mental process to fuel your both through food, rather than using food for comfort or mental sanity… you are taking steps in the right direction.
Your body needs fuel just like your car does, you need food to burn in order to have energy… too much fuel is not a good thing, we cannot overflow our gas tanks if we consume too much food (well, generally speaking). If we overeat, our body will discard some, but also store some… if we under eat, our body will naturally eat our muscle fiber for energy… both of which are not good!
“Today, more than 95% of all chronic disease is caused by food choice, toxic food ingredients, nutritional deficiencies and lack of physical exercise.”~ Mike Adams
Now at FXB we calculate the carbs and protein that we should have 6-times per day… that helps us know how much our body needs to burn every 3 or so hours… simple, right? Well there is a few more things…
A Cheeseburger or Chicken Nugget meal from McDonalds has Carbs… (check) Protein, (check), fits into my fuel… right? WRONG! Its not only about hitting those numbers, its about eating “clean”. You can get the same carbs/protein from a cleaner source, like how about a piece of whole-wheat bread, some grilled chicken breast, and a couple strawberries… seemingly the same amount of carbs/protein, but this eliminates the chemicals, the preservatives, the bad FAT and positions your body to digest this food easiest, having your digestion process impede on your energy that you need for daily life and most of all dealing with our LEVEL-10 workouts!
“Processed foods not only extend the shelf life, but they extend the waistline as well.” ~ Karen Sessions
Going into the weekend between Week6 and Week7, lets try to look at food as a means for survival. Some food tastes better than others, lets try to find clean foods, lets try to take week-7 and eliminate processed foods as much as possible, and try this CLEAN EATING “thing”… you will be surprised at how quickly your body reacts… just like when you put high octane gas in your car vs. the cheap stuff… your engine responds better… your body will too!
A special Thank You to Melissa @ FXB LaVista for inspiring today’s blog message. She was talking to me yesterday about her clean-eating and it got me thinking, and eventually typing… so thanks Melissa!
